Frequently Asked Questions
What is the HCS community like?
With Christ at the center, everything changes! We invite you to schedule a visit to experience God at work at HCS. Our community is filled with loving, intentional parents devoted to each other and focused on nurturing their children in faith as together we seek to bring glory to God in every aspect of our lives.
Is HCS affiliated with a church denomination?
Hudsonville Christian School students represent over 100 different churches, and we celebrate each one as an image bearer of God.
How will my child's faith be nurtured?
Hudsonville Christian integrates faith and biblical values into each unit of study. We have a common understanding as Christian professionals that our whole world belongs to God, and so we develop curricula that connects faith and knowledge.
Our teachers are passionate about their faith and nurturing children through interpersonal interactions in their classrooms. As a Christian community, they experience the joys and sorrows of daily Christian life.
Every student at Hudsonville Christian has a Faith Journey Portfolio. Each year students write a personal faith statement and these yearly reflections remain in a permanent portfolio until the students complete their education at Hudsonville Christian where they are presented to parents upon graduation—a keepsake of their child’s faith journey from kindergarten through eighth grade.
Each grade level also has a capstone event to mark the journey of faith and unite the class as the body of Christ.
Will I be able to afford to send my kids here?
Hudsonville Christian is blessed with a tremendous supporting community, so we are able to offer tuition rates on a sliding scale. This allows us to reduce tuition for families with more than one student attending and makes Hudsonville Christian School more affordable than most private Christian schools. We are also willing to partner with all parents who want a Christian education and help make it possible for their families.
What extracurricular opportunities do you offer?
What support service do you offer?
We believe that each child has a unique plan and purpose in the kingdom of God, and helping each child reach his or her full potential is a blessing we look forward to at Hudsonville Christian School. For academically advanced students, we offer our SOAR program which presents students the opportunity to work beyond grade level in math and/or language arts.
We also employ paraprofessionals in grades 1, 2, and 3 to assist students who need support in reaching or maintaining grade level performance and goals. The process for accessing these services is very informal and fluid, and done in cooperation with parents.
Qualifying Students may also receive the following special services from Hudsonville Christian School:
- Speech Therapy, Physical or Occupational Therapy, Reading Assistance, Resource Room (for learning disabilities), Inclusive Education (for moderate to severe impairments).
