Faith and Learning Conversations Presents: Understanding Childhood Anxiety

November 19, 2026 at 7:00 p.m.

Helping Kids Navigate Worry, Build Resilience, and Grow in Confidence.

Does your child get frustrated over seemingly little things? Complain of a stomachache before school? Worry about making mistakes, avoid their favorite activities, or shut down when things feel overwhelming? These everyday challenges can have many causes, but they can also be signs of anxiety. How can we better recognize when anxiety is at work and help our kids build the skills to navigate it?

Join Hudsonville Christian School for a Faith + Learning Conversation with Caleb Jones, MA, LPC, of West Michigan Wellness Group. A licensed counselor and former youth pastor, Caleb brings together professional mental health expertise and a Christ-centered perspective on supporting students. Drawing on his experience counseling adolescents and young adults, he’ll help parents, teachers, and others who minister to students better understand how anxiety affects learning and behavior. He’ll also share practical ways to respond with compassion while helping students build confidence and resilience.

Throughout the evening, we’ll explore anxiety through a Christian lens, recognizing that God created us as whole people with interconnected emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual needs. Parents will gain practical tools for emotional regulation, supportive communication, and helping students face challenges instead of avoiding them. Together, we’ll consider how to create environments where kids feel safe, understood, and equipped to grow—all while pointing them toward the peace, hope, and truth found in Christ.

Whether your student struggles with anxiety or simply faces the everyday worries and challenges of growing up, this is a conversation you won’t want to miss!
