HOME COMMUNICATOR
Thursday, May 7th, was the National Day of Prayer, and our second graders participated in this special day in a meaningful and powerful way. With the help of teachers and several parent and staff volunteers, each second grade classroom was transformed into a quiet, calming space—dim lighting, worship music playing softly, and fabric draped from the ceiling and classroom furniture creating a sense of sacred pause.
Each room invited students into a different focus of prayer. In one space, students expressed adoration by singing worship songs and reading scripture. In another room, students viewed photographs of staff members as they prayed for them by name. In other spaces, students drew pictures of things they were thankful for, traced their hands and feet while reflecting on ways to live with servant hearts, and gathered around a wooden cross to reflect on confession and God’s grace and forgiveness. Across every room, there was a clear sense that the Holy Spirit was at work in the hearts of both students and adults.
The second graders were so reverently engaged throughout this special time. As they moved from room to room, even the hallways carried a quiet sense of awe in who God is and how much He loves each of us. The day before, students had helped prepare their classrooms for one another, and they were eager to see how the Lord would meet them through each prayer experience.
What a gift it is to pause together in prayer—not only on days like this, but every day at HCS as we seek our Father together.
Serving Him Together,
Tricia Kiepert
Elementary Principal
