The 8th Grade Presents: Cactus Pass

March 5, 6 and 7

A family road trip through the American Southwest takes an unexpected turn when the Barringtons are stranded in the desert town of Cactus Pass, Arizona. There, they find a community divided by a decades-old family feud that has reshaped daily life and canceled the town’s most cherished tradition. When plans are made to bring that tradition back, long-hidden secrets surface, loyalties are tested, and the town is forced to face what it has avoided for years.

Play Synopsis

Trevor Barrington wants nothing more than for his affluent family from the city of Boston to have the authentic American experience of seeing and exploring the wild landscapes of the South West. But, while on their family road trip, their Rolls Royce motor home breaks down and he finds himself stuck with his wife and their children in rustic Cactus Pass, Arizona.  For the last 80 years, the Cactus Pass locals have been embroiled in a family feud between the Putnams and Ludlows. The townspeople have catered ridiculously to the feuding families with separate mayors, alternate school days and even assigned shopping times so that the two families don’t cross paths. And if that were not bad enough, every year since the feud began, the town’s annual jamboree has been CANCELLED!  As Trevor and his family grow fond of the town, he bribes the entire town to hold the jamboree so that his children can experience a real American tradition. His bribe sets into motion a sequence of events that unravel the entire town from top to bottom while exposing unspeakable crimes that finally give the two families a good reason to forgive and forget their differences.
