A message from HCS
This past Friday, we had the joy of welcoming our grandparents and grand-friends to HCS! The morning was filled with big smiles, lots of hugs, and special moments together. In between classroom visits, we gathered in the gym for a time of worship. With more than 2,000 voices singing praises to our Savior, it felt like a little glimpse of heaven!
During chapel, our Faith Nurturing Coordinators, Evamarie Eggebeen and MJ Staal, shared the story from Joshua 4, when the Israelites gathered stones along the Jordan River to remember how God had brought them safely across on dry ground. Those stones served as reminders of God’s faithfulness and all He had done for His people.
It was such a fitting message for a day spent celebrating generations together. Our grandparents have a lifetime of stories to share about God’s faithfulness, while our students are just beginning to build stories of their own. Throughout the morning, students and grandparents shared their stories and wrote them on stones as reminders of God’s goodness in their lives.
What a gift to celebrate His goodness together and be reminded that His faithfulness carries on from generation to generation. It’s through these relationships, shared stories, and growing faith that we continue to live out our mission at HCS to challenge minds and lives for Christ.
We ended our time together lifting our voices in one powerful chorus:
To this I hold, my hope is only Jesus
All the glory evermore to Him
When the race is complete, still my lips shall repeat:
Yet not I, but through Christ in me!
