HOME COMMUNICATOR
As we turn the calendar to May this week, you might notice that Thursday is the National Day of Prayer. I love the image of people around our country that will be lifting their voice to God in prayer that day. What a beautiful picture of the body of Christ and of our God who hears each voice! Among those voices will be those of 2nd grade students at HCS taking part in a one-hour “Pray without Ceasing” experience.
The words of 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 instruct us to “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” This is the heartbeat of devotions throughout 2nd grade and this particular time on Thursday.
”Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV
Students will spend time rotating through classrooms that each focus on different aspects of the ACTS prayer – adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication. These spaces will provide opportunities for students to listen and respond to God through the reading of Scripture, spoken and written words, music, and art. These are truly sacred spaces for students to connect with God.
Will you join us in covering this time for our 2nd graders in prayer? Pray that students would grow in their understanding of God’s love for each of them. Pray that students would be prompted by the Spirit to love others in the way Jesus loves us. Perhaps most importantly, pray that God would use this experience to draw them into a lifelong relationship with Him in which they turn to Him in all circumstances!
To God be the glory,

Faces And Our Cultures provides Guatemalan students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in our community for eight enriching weeks. To become cultural ambassadors, participants undergo a thorough selection process and extensive preparation throughout the year. Each child will be matched with a student close in age and same gender. The host family provides homestay for 8 weeks, making them part of the routine, activities, rules, curfews, house chores as another member of the family. Hudsonville Christian provides lunches, school materials, and school-related activities.
