The signup forms for volunteering throughout the 2024-25 academic year are now open!

We value parent involvement and invite you to connect and engage with the school. Opportunities include support for classroom, grade-level, and school-wide activities, fundraising, prayer ministry, serving as HCS ambassadors, and more! Volunteering not only helps our school, but it also helps families get to know one another and creates a sense of family within our school community. With hundreds of volunteer opportunities available, you are sure to find something that you will enjoy!

Anyone interested in being a room parent should fill out this application form. We will contact applicants in early August, once class lists are finalized. Note: All room parent positions are worth 25 points, but we can not guarantee you will be selected as there are often more applicants than needed.

Here are some frequently asked questions about volunteering at HCS for the 2024-25 school year.

How many points does my household need? 

• 0 points = if your oldest child is in 3 School or 4 School
• 5 points = if your oldest child is in Young 5s or Kindergarten
• 25 points = if you have any children in 1st – 8th grade
• 10 points = if you are a single-parent household with children in 1st – 8th grade

Do I need to sign up for points? 

No. You may “opt out” of volunteer points and will be charged an opt-out fee of up to $150 (it will be automatically added to your tuition payments for next school year).

What if I don’t sign up for all my points? 

The opt-out fees are pro-rated. If you signed up for 10 points out of 25, you would see a $90 fee on your tuition statement.

May I sign up for more points later in the year?

Yes, you may sign up for points throughout the school year. If you were charged an opt-out fee, it will be reimbursed.

Why are some spots pre-filled?

It’s our policy to pre-fill most “Lead” and committee positions as they are often on a rotating 3-year term. We also pre-fill some positions that require specific skills or knowledge. If you desire a prefilled position, we recommend volunteering for that event or committee to get acquainted with the tasks and responsibilities. You may also contact the Committee Lead directly.

How do I apply to be a room parent?

May we sign up for MORE than 25 points?

Yes, many parents do sign up for more than the required 25 points and we are so grateful for this. However, we do ask that you only sign up for 25 points during the first 48 hours after the sign-up forms go live to give everyone a chance to sign up. After that, you may go back in and sign up for anything that’s still available!
