Academic Excellence
Our Elementary program is designed to challenge and nurture the individual, God-given talents of students in preschool through fifth grade. Our curriculum is aimed at developing the whole child as a social, emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual being, created in His image. We are committed to integrating faith into every aspect of learning including all our academic classes as well as our fine arts and athletic programs.

We understand that God’s children have unique strengths and weaknesses and offer differentiated instruction to meet their individual needs. Students can take advantage of a full range of learning opportunities, from academic support to options for accelerated learners.

In Partnership with Parents
Hudsonville Christian Elementary teachers recognize the importance of parental involvement and communication. They welcome email communication from parents and invite parents to volunteer to help with special events like field trips and parties.

We also communicate through a weekly home bulletin, called The Home Communicator, which includes school news, announcements, and upcoming events. It is sent home via email each Tuesday to each family.   If you would like to receive a paper copy or would like to be placed on the email list, please call the school office.

The Spotlight is issued several times each year to inform the broader HCS community of school news and events.

Parents also have convenient, web-based access to students’ academic information and records.  Through RenWeb, parents (and students) can securely access grades, report cards, class schedules, and attendance information.

Gifted Teachers
Our elementary school teachers have been especially chosen on the basis of a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as well as their unique teaching skills and passion for Christian education. Each is certified by the state of Michigan and committed to our school mission of challenging minds and lives for Christ.

2022-2023 Theme
Each year, Hudsonville Christian School picks a theme to guide students’ spiritual development. This year’s theme, “Growing in God’s Garden,” comes from Isaiah 61:11, “For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations.” During this year, it is our prayer that God’s faithfulness and unfailing love will be shown and shared as we find ourselves “Growing in God’s Garden.”

Extracurricular Activities

Extracurricular Activities
HCS Elementary School offers students the opportunity to participate in several extracurricular activities, including STEM Activities (various grades), Math Pentathlon (grades K-7), Basketball Clinics (grades 3-5), Volleyball Clinics (grades 1-8), Game Time (grade 5) and Brain Busters game days (grades 4-8).

For more specific information on individual extracurricular activities, please refer to the Extracurricular tab.

Specials (Number Days)

Specials (Number Days)
Students in Y5, Kindergarten and 1st grade operate on a days-of-the-week schedule for specials.  Their specials will be on specific days of the week.

The weekly schedule for 2nd – 5th grades cycle through a sequential rotations: 1,2,3,4. The purpose of the Numbered Day Schedule is so students have an even distribution of their specials.  This also balances the curriculum for the art, music, Spanish and physical eduction teachers because each class sections can remain on the same lesson.

The schedule of Number Days is printed in the Home Communicator each week. If there is an unanticipated cancellation such as a snow day, the number schedule is adjusted to resume on the next day of school.
