ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Christ-Centered Classrooms

Little girl reading at Hudsonville Christian School

Thank you for your interest in Hudsonville Christian Elementary!

As we challenge minds and lives for Christ, our goal at the elementary building is to help all of our students love Jesus, love each other, and love learning. If you walk down our hallways or peek into the classrooms, you’ll see students learning new things and working together, creating lasting friendships with their classmates and building solid relationships with their teachers. Students and teachers lead our weekly chapels. Chapel is a meaningful opportunity for kids to worship with the rest of the student body and grow as spiritual leaders.

Students grow so much in their elementary years—physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. Watching these kids develop their God-given gifts and talents and find ways to serve Him and others in their daily lives is an absolute joy. It is such a privilege for me to be able to use my passion for kids, learning, and Christian education in my role as elementary principal.

If Hudsonville Christian School sounds like a good fit for your family, I invite you to come and see what makes our school a wonderful place to learn and grow!

In Christ,

Tricia Kiepert
Elementary Principal

Faith Formation

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” 2 Timothy 3:16

Hudsonville Christian School is intentional about nurturing the faith of our elementary students. We want them to think like Jesus, speak like Jesus, and do what He would do. We partner with families and the church to build a strong foundation of faith that holds firm through all aspects of learning and life.

The daily rhythms include bible memory, class devotions, prayer time, Bible education, and classroom worship. Beyond this, we incorporate faith into classroom culture, projects, discussions, and learning in non-Bible classes. Through this, students form their worldview from God’s Word as they learn about the world and develop their understanding of what it means to have a place in God’s Kingdom.

Additionally, each grade participates in a Faith Capstone project and contributes yearly entries into their Spiritual Portfolio.

Faith Capstone Projects

Each grade at HCS participates in a faith capstone project. Capstone Projects are grade-specific, memorable, and cumulative faith activities designed to encourage deeper thinking and next steps of faith. For example, the 2nd-grade capstone project includes a study of prayer and immerses the students in a powerful prayer experience on, or near, the National Day of Prayer. For 5th-grade students, their capstone project is participating in an interactive Easter “Grace Walk” in which they experience Christ’s suffering, death, and resurrection.

"Know also that wisdom is like honey for you: If you find it, there is a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off."

Proverbs 24:14

Spiritual Portfolio

Students create a journal entry at the end of every school year reflecting on God and their relationship with Him. These entries reflect on what the students studied in chapels and the Bible that year. Each entry is saved and collected into your student’s “Spiritual Portfolio.” It is a powerful testimony to all that God can do in nine years and is one of the ways HCS is committed to intentional faith nurturing. The handwriting changes, but the God who writes this story is the same.

Elementary Academics

An inspiring place to learn.
Our Elementary program challenges and nurtures students, Preschool through 5th grade, so that they embrace their unique talents and ideas to glorify our Creator. We love that God’s children have special talents, interests, strengths, and weaknesses. HCS offers differentiated instruction to engage, excite, and meet individual needs while meeting Board of Education goals. Students can take advantage of a full range of learning opportunities, from academic support to options for accelerated learners.

Advanced Learners

For students in grades 3-8 who are ready for additional academic challenges, HCS offers an advanced learning programs in English Language Arts and Math. Called SOAR, these programs provide qualifying students the chance to work beyond grade level and continue to be engaged academically so they can offer their unique gifts to the body of Christ.

Educational Support Services

Every child has a unique place and purpose in God’s kingdom. Our desire at HCS is to include all of God’s children. We welcome children who need academic support or special services and will work with parents to create a plan that works best for their students. Our team of specially-trained Educational Support Services (ESS) teachers and paraprofessionals are called to their work and are passionate about supporting their students.

Expert Teachers. Humble Followers.

Students spend around 1,260 hours in school each year. It matters who they spend this time with—who is teaching them. As professing Christ-followers, our teachers have a faith worth imitating (1 Corinthians 11:1), and they create classroom environments you can feel assured sending your students into. It is a humbling responsibility to train children (Proverbs 22:6). HCS teachers are committed to partnering with parents in this responsibility, as together, we lead students toward a complete and deep understanding of God.

From advanced degrees to specialized certifications and endorsements, our Elementary teachers are also expertly prepared to challenge the minds of their students. Teachers work hard to create engaging ways for students to explore God’s world and grow in their relationship with Him. Sometimes, that looks like a bearded dragon as a classroom pet. Other times, that looks like fundraising for a local non-profit as a class. Our elementary students progress academically, emotionally, and socially because of the fantastic teachers who educate them.
